This position is responsible for software technology as it relates to feature & feature introduction of handsets, software roadmap, and in documenting software requirements. This position is also responsible for the development of software technology, introduction of software into the hardware, and alignment with the carrier plans and opportunities. A significant amount of carrier interface will be required to conduct meetings and scope a strategy for features and feature content.
Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent experience
6+ years of software, test or systems engineering experience with a wireless emphasis; and/or experience in software project management in a development environment
Good working knowledge of the industry wireless telecommunications standards and features such as CDMA, GSM, BREW, GPS, Multimedia and/or OMA device management
CDMA2000/EV-DO, call processing and IS856 is a must
Programming skills Java, C, C++, PERL a plus
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
Good presentation and interpersonal skills
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Aligning software technology projects to future handset releases
Work with cross functional group in the front-end definition and analysis of requirements and architecture for features supporting a wide range of product tiers and customers
Conducts systems programming and systems support activities
Develops software roadmap
Using current programming language and technology, writes code, completes programming, develops, tests and performs debugging routines and documents work and results
Prepares and conducts system and programming tests requiring interfacing of hardware and software
Contributes to software resource estimates
Performs other duties as assigned
