Job Summary:
Leads RF engineering team activities in the areas of design, development, modification, and evaluation of electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment or other hardware systems. Supervises the mechanical engineering functional groups.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversees RF engineers and mechanical engineer/drafters and assigns employees to new & existing projects. Coordinates activities concerning technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. Monitors status of projects ensuring deadlines and milestones are met.
Interfaces with program managers to ensure budgets and schedules are being maintained. Coordinates with systems, software, and digital design efforts to complete project within established timeframe and budget as well as to ensure customer requirements are met.
Approves documentation and test plans used by the RF team. Reviews designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
Interfaces with business development, marketing, and systems engineers in the development of bids and proposals for new business.
Converts customer specifications into a RF system designs developing top level and detailed requirement specifications.
Designs, documents, implements and tests RF and analog circuitry using commercial off the shelf (COTS) and custom component such as mixers, filters, amplifiers, hybrids and other hardware.
Participates in regular design review meetings to ensure compliance with established procedures and product requirements as well as to ensure all customer technical requirements are met.
May reviews customer's technical specifications, blue prints and other customer documents to assist in the development and preparation of proposals, pricing, statement of work and other documents. Consults with program managers, engineers, marketing, and other technical personnel as needed.
Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management. Advises management of situations which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve department operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.
Performs other duties as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises RF Engineers, E/M Design Engineer, & Drafter and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned functions.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.
Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSEE) and 7+ years related experience in RF design/development or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Previous supervisory or lead engineer experience is necessary.
Should have experience in the design and test of radar target/ECM simulators or microwave subsystems design in avionics/military applications, as well as experience in all phases of product development from initial concept through design, test, delivery, and installation of final product.
