Project Experience:

Application Database Administrator (P2P/TNE/IMG), since December 02 (Contract)

As one of the Senior Oracle Application Database Administrator of the Global Information System, I am responsible for managing & supporting Global P2P, Self Service, EDW & Imaging (Markview 170)System, which caters to its corporate offices throughout the world. This involves24X7 (weekend and night shifts) support & maintenance of the two Production and over 25 Development & Test environments across 12 – 15 SUN Solaris Servers. Responsible for defining and planning architecture, support & maintenance procedures and weekly new builds & cloning of instances. Basic environment – Rel 11i (11.5.6, 8) on 8.1.7.4 & (11.5.10) on 9.2.0.5 & 10g – (JDK 1.5.1, Portal, Java, Apache) with AP, GL, FA, SSI (portal), WebAdi. Change control/management tools – Kintana – for both Patch & Object migration; PVCS – for version controlling of stage. Also includes regular troubleshooting of database/system performance related issues across all the geographic locations.

Following are some of the major tasks/accomplishments during the last four and a half years in this project:-

·          Migrate existing RDBMS from 8i to 9.2.0.8 and then 10.2.0. along with Portal upgrade

·          Upgrade eBusiness suite using rapidwiz and adclone to 11.5.9 and then finally to 11.5.10

·          Archived and Purged Journal/Balances for 3 a/c periods & Asset s for 2 fiscal years saving up to 200GB

·          Install/configure 11.5.9 Oracle Applications Manager and Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.2

·          Setup up OMS server on Sun Solaris and clients across a multitude of Solaris/AIX/Wintel platforms.

·          Plan and implement the entire infrastructure for Image processing for AP/TNE using Markview 170 System

·          Plan and Upgrade the entire Imaging system (170 systems) from 3.7 to 5.0 with major infrastructural changes.

·          Set up cron scripts with UNIX shell and SQL scripting to monitor/administer the 170 system ver 3.7

·          Coordinate Developer and User group testing for the implementation and usage of Kintana/ITG migration tool.

·          Incorporate security features / password maintenance policies across all the Oracle Application instances.

·          Worked on downsizing of post-cloned 11i instances using Applimation tool followed by Datamasking scripts

I have successfully planned and executed 3 complete phases of Database upgrade to 9i along with Oracle Application upgrade to 11.5.10 for all the above mentioned modules/functionalities. Closely worked with the business functional (development) group in their various releases/builds to upgrade and incorporate new features and functionalities. Have been solely responsible for coordinating and planning OS/HW upgrades and maintenance schedules. Gained in-depth knowledge on the architecture and functionalities of Kintana migration tool. Install/configure 11.5.9 Oracle Applications Manager. Additionally have been solely responsible for incorporating and maintaining security features / password maintenance policies across all the Oracle Application instances supported by the Application DBA group.
 
Technical Lead - Database /System Administration– IT Solutions, April 02 to November 02 (Contract)

As the Technical Lead for all Database/ERP environment my responsibilities are not only limited to providing expertise in the areas of Oracle Database & Unix System Administration but also involved in the planning of the Technology infrastructure across the 6 different locations across the United states. Daily responsibilities include coordination with the CIO, and CFO of the organization and plan upgrade/install/restructuring projects with various local technical managers stationed in NY and Virginia to complete a smooth migration of the entire IT operations from the New York office to the new corporate centre in Sarasota, FL.

Following are some of the major tasks/accomplishments:-

·          Implemented OEM9i to monitor the 8i Oracle database instance spread across 4 servers in various locations.

·          Implement standardized Oracle structures/procedures to migrate databases from NY to servers in Sarasota.

·          Upgraded existing Financial database from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7.3 on Development /Production servers.

Application Database Administrator–Technology Infrastructure Services, January 02 to April 02 (Contract)

As the Financials Application Database Administrator of the TIS group of Tulane University, I was responsible for managing the Oracle Financials Application (customised as TAMS- Tulane Accounting Management System), a Release 10.7SC (Prod 16.1) version of the product implemented over a 3-tier architecture. The Oracle RDBMS ran on IBM OS/390, followed with the application/Technology stack installed on a middle-tier RS6000 server running on IBM-AIX. The Smart Client(Fat Client) was installed across multiple Citrix servers providing shared access to the application front-end. Responsible for planning, design, implementation & upgrade of the RDBMS from 7.3.3 to 8.1.7 followed with the upgrade to Oracle Financials Applications from 10.7SC to 11/11i for AP, GL, AR, PA, Grants & PO modules.

Global Re-engineering Project, Project Manager- Technical Infrastructure–Database Services, since October 96 to September 01.

As the Financials Application Administration Manager of the Database Services group, I was responsible for managing a team of 6-7 Application/System Administration members. Actively involved in the planning, design & implementation of Oracle Financials Applications(all the way from Prod 15 to 11/11i) for AP, GL, FA, AR, PA & PO modules & Portal for 11i; along with interfaces to Data Warehousing & PeopleSoft-HR/Payroll systems.
