Senior Director, Software Development
· Directed exceptionally talented team in highly speculative, complex product developments within the genetic/proteomic research market. Reported to Senior VP. Technologies included JAVA, EJB, C++, OO, Oracle, SQL, Client/Server, JBOSS, Solaris, NT & Linux. Mutisite-multinational operation. Grew from leading a small group to leading all Discover Center product line development.

Software Manager
· Director of all site software product activities, including development, verification and validation, budgeting and scheduling. Full manpower responsibilities. Managed staff of 60 personnel with an annual budget of $6.5 million. Technologies included Solaris, NT, C, CMM, SEI, Oracle and large-scale embedded systems. Also was Project Manager on a separate, large, complex, international Bio-Medical Instrumentation Project.
· Unified a large development team and maintained a healthy work environment. Achieved personnel turnover rate that approached zero, compared to a national rate greater than 25%.
· Directed activities on numerous, concurrent large-scale embedded systems.
· Fostered an active respect for marketing, and other teams leading to improved relationships between disciplines.
· Realigned goals of marketing and development to dedicate a major instrumentation release based on improved stability over feature enhancements. This involved championing a $4 million hardware upgrade. The upgrade dramatically improved system performance and allowed for future feature development. Customer impact was an increased MTBF.
· Resuscitated neglected project and functioned as Project Manager of large (>$25MM) Instrumentation Project that added in vitro Allergy diagnostics to existing blood diagnostics product. Coordinated multifunctional efforts over numerous U.S. and European sites. Disciplines represented on team included Electrical, Systems, Reliability, Mechanical, Software, Test and Manufacturing Engineering as well as Technical Communications, QA, SQA, Regulatory and chemists. Product has been successfully launched.

Manager, Software Engineering (1990–1997)
Responsible for all management aspects of software department, including customer contract negotiations, project management, system design, development and test. Full personnel responsibilities for a staff of 32 professionals. P & L responsibilities for Software organization. Assembly, C, PLM, embedded systems.
